How To Choose Self Tanners

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

My sister and I used to spend hours every summer working on our tans. We would use a wide range of concoctions that were supposed to help you tan faster and deeper. Sun screen was not given a second thought and there were no self tanners.

Now that we are older and have heard the many warnings regarding over exposure to the sun we are looking for alternate ways of looking tanned. Besides the health issues of sun exposure there is also the time needed to get a tan. My sister told me that her daughter had used one of the self tanners and liked the results. She said that she was going to give them a try.

My first thought was orange. I remember the self tanners from several years ago. The people that would use them would turn a strange orange tint. My sister reassured me that the products have improved. Two days later I met my sister for lunch. She had a healthy tan glow about her. She said that she had applied one of the self tanners three times since we had spoken last. She said that her only complaint was that her knees and elbows appeared dirty looking. She had not followed the directions regarding putting the self tanners on knees and elbows last to avoid over processing of those areas. Other than this the product had gone on smooth and the tan did have a natural tone to it.

After lunch I went to a large chain drug store to purchase a tanning product. I could not believe the number of self tanners that filled the shelves. There were many to choose from in a range of prices. Some of the self tanners from well known companies were quite expensive.

After reading the labels I found that I was having a difficult time making a decision. Another customer was in the area, and she had a very nice tan. I asked her if she used any of the tanning products. She told me that she had tried some in the past but found that she liked the new product that was out that is a moisturizer with self tanners in it. This product gave very subtle results and did not cause discoloration of the palms or knees and elbows. She showed me where the new product was located, which was with the moisturizers.

I decided to go with the low level of self tanners that are in the moisturizers. The product is put on after your bath or shower as you would any other body lotion. Over a period of days I noticed that my skin had a healthy glow. The moisturizer with self tanners was much less costly than the other products.

I did find that I need to apply sunscreen when spending time in the sun. The self tanners do not build up a base for tanning in the sun. It is the same as going out in the sun for the first time, so sunscreen is very important even though you look tanned.

How To Laser Stretch Marks

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

Who would have thought that high-tech gadgets that seem to leap out of science fiction would be used to improve our looks? Evidently, the innovators of the beauty industry have decided to incorporate laser light to laser stretch marks right off of a person’s body. This seems like a dream come true for anyone who has the unsightly marks.

Most people do experience stretching of the skin that leaves scars at one time or another. The occurrence usually happens during puberty. These are usually striae rubra, which are red. The adolescent marks are usually fade over time so it makes no sense to laser stretch marks in these cases unless there is significant scaring that won’t disappear any time soon.

Since the reason for adolescent striae rubra is growth, it is reasonable to believe that the continuation of the imprints will not reappear when the individual reaches adulthood. Some imprints do continue as the person reaches maturity and beyond for several reasons. In these cases it may be a good idea to laser stretch marks to minimize the appearance of them.

The unsightly marks can also be an unfortunate side effect of obesity. When the skin is stretched, it tears. People who gain a massive amount of weight will probably see some imprints, whether red or white. Either way, they are unwelcome. However, this population may not laser stretch marks unless their weight is stabilized because of the possibility of reoccurrence.

Ironically, the individuals who suffer from obesity will often experience significant markings on their skin when they lose weight. Rapid weight loss is also attributed to this kind of scarring of the tissue. It would be best to laser stretch marks after reaching a weight loss goal. If you continue to lose weight after the treatment, you may have to make some return visits.

Pregnancy is a very common cause for stretch marks. The rapid growth in the abdomen area really puts a strain on the skin leaving signs of the strain behind. There is also a hormonal component to the skin problem. Some women will get the marks if they gain very little weight during the nine months. These imprints often fade but some women laser stretch marks after pregnancy if they have not been minimized naturally.

The benefit of choosing to laser stretch marks is the process will help your body restore collagen that has been lost in the skin. The collagen fills depressed scars and creates a smooth surface. Even though it seems out of a sci-fi story, many people will choose to laser stretch marks because it restores a basic, natural element in our bodies.

How To Buy Cosmetics Online

Monday, August 14th, 2006

Using the Internet is a nice way to shop for your facial beauty products. You can find reputable cosmetic companies that don?t sell off brands that will damage your face with low quality cosmetics. Neither do they sell their old over stocked cosmetics online either. The benefits of buying cosmetics online are numerous, and most of all it is so easy to do. Check out why it is good to sit back and buy online.

When you buy anything online you are not limited in terms of choice. There are many online companies that often have a wider choice than what they carry in stores. Great bargains can be found too, whereas in the store, prices remain pretty much the same. Even if you find sale prices on makeup when shopping, they will often be older, and you’ll need to think about what they might do to your skin. Cosmetics online get rid of stock quickly, and rotate them out, so you are guaranteed freshness.

Benefits on price do extend to Internet buying because the prices are cheaper when you get your purchase through the computer. They are just naturally cheaper because they produce, or buy the makeup in bulk. An enticement to buy cosmetics online is that you will often get special surprises included with an order. It could be a new makeup, or even small gifts for the holidays, or a discount on products from other companies. Retail stores don’t often offer this type of bargain except at Christmas, but cosmetics online do at all times.

Another benefit is that if you are in a hurry with other things in life, or if you are ill, you can have your items delivered with next day shipping. Granted, it will cost a little more for the convenience of having them delivered. It is offset by not having to hassle with crowds, parking or weather extremes. Because the cosmetics online are ordered from the Internet, you will often find that money back issues are dealt with promptly. Some give a 30 day money back promise if anything is wrong with the things you have purchased.

Some companies will give you free shipping if you buy a certain quantity. It is more expensive, but you won?t have to reorder so soon, and over the long run you will save money with cosmetics online. In todays market it is safe to order with companies that sell cosmetics online because there are secure shopping carts and encryption when using your credit card or e-check. The ease and flexibility is great when buying with an online company.

Remember, it does not matter what type of makeup you use, as long as it is backed by a quality company in the cosmetics arena. You know your own individual beauty needs for makeup, so go on the Internet and check out all of the cosmetics online that you can find. Who knows, you just might find other types of makeup that will make your face look beautiful and refreshed.

How To Choose Aging Skin Care Products

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

When it comes to aging skin care products, the market is huge. Or maybe massive is a better word. In fact, it’s practically immeasurable. This is basically due to the demand for youth in our society.

This especially goes for women. The softer sex is always expected to look nice, hence the plethora of aging skin care lines. With Hollywood constantly setting the standard, being young is in full demand.

There’s basically no escape from it. It’s all about that peer pressure. We all feel it at some point or another. In fact, it’s there from the time we hit our mid-twenties. In more recent years, youth has been deemed the ideal. Not that it ever wasn’t desirable. However, these days it’s more prominent and expected than it ever was before.

Luckily the professionals are getting better and better at producing effective aging skin care regimes for men and women. This allows each and every one of us to take care of our mugs from early on, hence preventing premature aging. Regardless of your skin type or age, you can certainly find cosmetic wonders out there to suit you and your condition.

Additionally, one other concern that goes along with aging skin care products is the sun. Yep, that good old mega star that lights up the world. Unfortunately it is the prime cause of premature lines and wrinkles. So in short, invest in some quality aging skin care treatments and avoid the sun if you plan to retain your youthful glow.
